Fall Detection in NC and Beyond
Emergency Response You Can Trust
Thank you for considering Med Alert for your emergency response needs. If you have a question that’s not answered here, feel free to call us.
Why Med Alert?
Because you’re content living at home and going where you want to go, just as you’ve always done. A sudden fall or other life-impacting emergency could threaten your health and your independence. So, it’s important to be prepared with the right tools and a good plan. That includes a personal emergency response system (PERS).
Who should wear a Med Alert system?
A Med Alert system is ideal for anyone who would like peace of mind with 24-hour protection in case of a medical emergency, fire, or break-in by simply having a help button. Med Alert is especially essential for adults or seniors who live alone, as studies show they are more likely to suffer a fall at home. The Med Alert system can also be used as a general panic button.
What should I look for in a medical alert system?
Any medical alert system you choose should be highly reliable, easy to use and install, UL-tested, and come with battery backup in case of a power outage. It should provide you with 24/7/365 coverage by well trained and professional response centers. It should provide free in-home installation, training, and after-installation support. In addition, a medical alert system should not require a contract or equipment fee, only a monthly monitoring fee.
Is Med Alert covered by insurance or Medicare?
Our products are not covered by insurance or Medicare at this time.
What types of Med Alert systems are available?
We have various options to suit your lifestyle and your needs. For example, our at-home Med Alert systems can work with or without a landline. We also offer mobile units with GPS for outside the home. All of our personal emergency response systems (PERS) have medical alert fall detection technology available.
How do Med Alert systems work?
It’s simple: you wear a Med Alert button as a necklace or bracelet or mobile unit. And, if you need emergency help, just push the button on your Med Alert necklace, Med Alert bracelet, or mobile unit. The help button then sends a signal to the medical alarm base in your home (on home-based units), which connects to one of our monitoring service’s trained emergency response operators. The operator contacts you through the amplified, two-way speaker in the base of the medical alarm; assesses the situation; and sends appropriate emergency help. On mobile units, you are connected directly to the operator and speak to them through the mobile unit.
What kind of emergency help do I get?
That depends on what kind of emergency you’re having. If it’s a minor situation, Med Alert can contact somebody (such as a neighbor or loved one) on your contact list and prompt them go to your house. For serious emergencies, our medical monitoring service will immediately dispatch an ambulance, or contact the police or fire station, depending on what you need.
Can I trust Med Alert?
Yes, we install and maintain our systems. We stand behind our personal emergency response system products with a 100% satisfaction guarantee and allow you to cancel at any time if you’re not satisfied.
